Why Does IPad Glass Replacement Cost Less Than an Iphone Screen?
On many IPad models the touch-sensitive glass is a separate component from the display panel underneath, unlike almost every modern phone where the two are laminated into one assembly. If you crack the front of an older IPad and the picture is still perfect, only the glass needs replacing, and that part is a fraction of a full display. The newer IPad Air and IPad Pro models changed this. Their displays are laminated, with the glass bonded directly to the panel, which removes the air gap and makes the screen look closer to the surface. How Long Does an IPad Repair Take?
An IPad repair takes longer than a phone repair, and it is worth knowing why before you decide to wait for it. The glass on a tablet is held down by a continuous band of adhesive around the entire perimeter, and that adhesive has to be warmed until it softens, cut through carefully, and then scraped off the frame before a new panel can go on. Rushing that step is how frames get bent.
In practice most IPad work is done the same day rather than while you wait. Bring it in during the day, and in most cases it is ready before we close. We will give you a realistic time when you drop it off, and we will call you when it is done.
If the part for your model is not in stock, we order it, which usually adds a day or two. Older IPad glass is generally on the shelf. Laminated assemblies for recent IPad Air and IPad Pro models are more often ordered in.
Should You Repair an IPad or Replace It?
For older IPads with separate glass, repair is usually the clear answer, because the repair costs a small fraction of a replacement tablet and the device keeps doing what it was doing. A cracked IPad that is otherwise working is not a device that needs replacing, it is a device that needs a piece of glass.

We do not touch the storage in your tablet during a glass, screen, battery or port replacement, and your apps and files stay exactly where they are. Back the tablet up anyway before any repair, because that is what protects you if something unexpected turns up once the device is open.
